This course looks at a variety of cultures and societies around the world and will explore fundamental topics in both classic and contemporary anthropological literature. Through learning about different cultures, social theories and perspectives students will be exposed to different ways of viewing the world and be able to objectively understand various social phenomena. Finally this class will look at the distinctive features of globalization and its influences on identity formation and sense of self. Throughout the term students will engage in individual research projects using ethnographic methods.
