The global environmental problems such as climate change, energy and water security, require our Scientific Literacy more than ever to understand them and seek solutions to them. However, although we have enough scientific knowledge and scientific (quantitative) tools to deal with the problems, we often don’t have the capacity to use scientific knowledge or know how to apply scientific tools effectively to solve the problems.

This course will discuss the above mentioned global environmental problems and demonstrate how scientific and technological concepts and methods can be applied to solving those problems, and how environmental problems can be understood/solved using simple quantitative methods.
